Hi, I am Sharon Young, the owner and CEO of Heart of Health (HOH)  In 2003 while working as head nurse for an orthopedic surgeon, I was on the phone with a patient and crumbled to the floor losing all muscular ability.  I never lost consciousness, but was unable to move my limbs.  After being taken to the emergency room they found my blood pressure was extremely high (stroke level).  They ran several tests, but gave me no answers and sent me on my way from the hospital. They told me to follow-up with my primary care physician (PCP).  My PCP thought I could have SLE Lupus and sent me for more tests and to more doctors.  By that time I had been to the ER three times (once for losing control of my muscles and twice with what appeared was a heart attack (though it was inflammation).  I was given the run around several times by everyone but my PCP.  Dr. Claxton (has since retired) stated, "Sharon I know you, and I know there has to be something going on here.  You're always here to see to your mom and dad, but never for yourself."  At least someone believed me.  Shortly after that, I began working at a hospice.

Finally, I was sent to a Rheumatologist.  At first he doubted I had SLE Lupus and said he wanted to run more tests.  He did, and found out all my inflammatory markers were off the chart.  The Rheumatologist told me, "Sharon, you aren't going to get any better, you're only going to get worse."  I was very upset because he couldn't know that since he wasn't God.  He offered me a choice of steroids, chemo drugs, or an anti-malarial drug.  I chose the latter.  However, after a short time I began having negative symptoms that concerned me about the possibility of going blind.  I went off the drug and never saw the Rheumatologist again.  I refused to believe his 'no-hope theory' for me.

After much prayer and some lifestyle changes, I started getter better and assumed I was healed, or maybe I was misdiagnosed (I believed the former).  But then my life took on much stress again with working on my master's, and taking care of my mom and dad who were both on hospice (who passed in 2012).  I never regretted taking care of either one of them, they loved and cared for me, and it was my turn.  But,  I have to admit, my eating habits and lifestyle reflected the stress.  I lost dad in January 2012, and lost my mom in September 2012.  I finished my Master's while holding my mom's hand at her bedside.

Then in 2014,  I started having  new symptoms.  On the left of this page the top four picture reflect what I looked like.  The symptoms were unlike any I had ever had.  My skin broke out in a rash that traveled to various parts of my body, much itching, flaking, and peeling.  I went to five doctors in two years and three out of the five diagnosed  me once again with SLE Lupus.  I refused any medication and there seemed to be no hope in site.  Next thing I knew, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's, Metabolic Syndrome, and Insulin Resistance.  I gained a lot of weight (172 lbs) shown in the fifth picture down on the left of this page (I was still in a wheelchair), and nothing I did got it off.  I was physically fatigued, experienced brain fog, and much pain and discomfort.  I felt like I was dying, and in reality, I was.  Prayer was the only thing that got me through that time.

Now I am 75 pounds less and still losing.  Born in 1949, at 75 years of age, it was none too soon.  I didn't just wake up and find myself well.  I went on a long and tedious journey to find answers without having to rely on doctors who gave me a negative prognosis, or medications that would cause more side affects.

Because of my health journey, I wanted to help others.  I credit the Lord for giving me direction to make the right choices.  By 2024, my labs had came back showing I no longer had Lupus or any of the other autoimmune diseases I was diagnosed with.

From my work as a hospice nurse and administrator, I saw the negative impact of pharmaceutical drugs on patients.  Some who were in the imminent stage of dying, came out of that stage when we took them off all their medications.  Not all of them, but enough for me to make a connection between the medications and negative side affects.  Some pharmaceutical drugs can mimic dementia including Alzheimer's as well as other disease.

I continued on my health journey making positive choices; putting my body in a state where it could heal itself.  Then in January of 2024 a doctor gave me an injection in my right groin for right hip pain and hit my femoral nerve which crippled me.  I have spent over a year healing from that physician error.  I went for stem cell therapy (umbilical cord stem cells) twice since then, physical therapy including aqua therapy, and used nutraceuticals to help me heal.  It has taken this whole year to heal from that.   I couldn't bathe myself or get in and out of my bed by myself.  My husband of 56 years was a jewel and I couldn't have made it as well without him.  We drew a lot closer during my journey.  I finally shed the wheelchair, then the walker, then the cane, and now am able to get around without the equipment to assist me.

I believe I have had to go through what I went through to help others.  I want you to know you can start on  your healing journey and become a healthier version of yourself.

Even though I have a soft spot for women who are 35 and older, who have been diagnosed with autoimmune, I do not limit my coaching to just them.  I help all ages and both men and women.  It is because of my health journey that I opened my wellness center with modalities that helped me.  That is why I became certified in Life and Health Coaching.  I want to help others overcome the lack of help and understanding for what they are facing.  If you are tired of people telling you, "It's all in your head," or "You're not going to get better."  Doctor's are not getting to the root cause of what is going on with you, and it's time to embrace your ability to find solutions.

Don't submit to anyone telling you there is NO HOPE!  That is nonsense, where there is life, there is hope.  This website is designed to give you the opportunity to either be coached, or find the resources to help you go it alone.  I am always here to help you if you get stuck.  I will be providing you with free blogs, inexpensive courses, and offering you coaching, If you want to bypass the roller-coaster of finding solutions and get right down to business with someone who has followed the same path--I can and want to help.
